Biography

Nolde Alexius has served on the faculty of the LSU English department since 1999. Her LSU Fiction English 2005 and 2025 courses feature the award-winning fiction writers who served on the faculty, enrolled in classes and edited the literary journals at LSU. Her English 2000 special emphasis course, Our Built Environment, is designed to promote the research and writing interests of students in all LSU academic majors and minors. She was a Special Collections Faculty Fellow in Fall 2025, which gave her the opportunity to develop the use of LSU's archival material in English 2025. Ms. Alexius has served as the faculty advisor for the undergraduate Creative Writing Club and is an active participant in CxC, having served as Writing Instruction Specialist in both College of Art + Design Studio and Studio 151. She has served the university in various capacities, including as a mentor for the HSS ASPIRE program and the Ronald McNair Scholars Program, as senator and secretary for the HSS Faculty Senate, and as presidential appointee to the Student Media Board. She is the recipient of The 2025 Lillian Bridwell-Bowles Innovative C-I Teacher Award, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Louisiana State University 2024 Outstanding Instructor Award, the LSU English Department Instructor Professional Development Award, Tiger Athletic Foundation Outstanding Instructor Award, the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society Award, and the Sigma Tau Delta Favorite Professor Award. She has advised undergraduate English independent studies in Magical Realism and the writing of the novella, an Honors College thesis in the publishing industry, and served as a member of graduate theses in photography. She served as assistant to the director of the Creative Writing Program and faculty advisor to New Delta Review. For her creative writing, which has been published in The Southern Review and other literary journals, she is the recipient of the Poets & Writers, Inc. Writers Exchange Competition in fiction and two Louisiana Division of the Arts Mini-Grants in Literature. She is the co-editor of Best of LSU Fiction (The Southern Review 2010), a short fiction anthology that features the writing of LSU faculty and alumni. She holds an MFA in creative writing from George Mason University and a BA in English and Drama from Randolph-Macon College. She plays keys in Baton Rouge Adult Music Club. She curated the fall 2020 exhibit at West Baton Rouge Museum - "The Collectible Life of Mignon Faget." She is a Certified Associate in Project Management. She is Writer in Residence at Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.
